Abstract

The article presents the results of a search in the Tallinn City Archive (Tallinna Linnaarhiiv), made with the materials of the collection of letters from the Lubeck City Council to the magistrate of Reval concerning the Revalfahrer Corporation. The search revealed five documents dating back to the last quarter of the 15th century. They present the specifics of the interaction of the Revel guests with the Lubeck City Council, the mechanism for hiring soldiers on merchant ships and the specifics of paying them salaries, as well as the specifics of chartering merchant ships. Much attention in this article is paid to the common traditions in the trade of the Nowgorodfahrer and the Revalfahrer of Lubeck. The appendix to the article contains the full texts of the Hanseatic sources, annotated in Russian and the necessary comments.
