Nowgorodfahrer and Revalfahrer from Lubeck in the documents of the Tallinn City Archive of the beginning of the 16th century

Abstract

The article presents the results of a search in the Tallinn City Archive (Tallinna Linnaarhiiv) made with the materials of the collection of letters from the Lubeck City Council to the magistrate of Reval for the mention of two merchant corporations, namely Nowgorodfahrer and Revalfahrer. The search revealed five documents dating back to the beginning of the 16th century. The first two sources relate to the history of the two trials, the other three documents should be considered in the context of the impending war of the Hanseatic League with the Danish Kingdom. The appendix to the article contains the full texts of the Hanseatic sources, annotated in Russian and the necessary comments.
